Autoharpists Bryan Bowers at Kootenai River
What a treat to hear the great Bryan Bowers autoharping this past weekend at the Kootenai River Bluegrass Festival. The entire festival was a joy and pleasure. Great band line-up including our very own Mike and Tari Conroy with the amazing Curtis Rathburn playing bass. More about the other music and jamming later. But for now check out Bryan doing his thing on the autoharp… amazing

United (and Delta) breaks guitars
Great job of making lemonade out of lemons
Same thing happened to my Scheerhorn flying in one of those high priced Calton flight cases on DELTA. Same exact everything, ‘cept I didn’t write this great song!!! The chorus is going to be running through my head all day now. I Love it!

Salmon Valley String Band opening for Missy Raines
Our very own, Salmon Valley String Band, have been invited to be the opening act for the nationally touring, Missy Raines and the New Hip in Salmon, Idaho. Missy Raines’, the perrenial IBMA bassist of the year is touring with her latest band incarnation The New Hip.
Missy Raines is now stepping out to make a longtime dream come true; creating a fusing of bluegrass virtuosity, jazz-tinged groove and a song-driven sensibility with a hot band. – Missy Raines’ website
Curtis & I caught one of their sets at Wintergrass in February and we were both thouroughly entertained with Missy’s kick-ass energy and her musical phenom bandmates.
Date:Â 7/19/2009
Time:Â 8:00 PM
Location;Â Â Island Park, Salmon, Idaho

Butte Folk Festival Parking/Camping
I was talking to the bass player Judy (of Judy and Bob) at West Folk over the weekend about the Butte Folk Festival. She said that she and Bob had called to reserve a hotel room in Butte for the festival weekend and the town is all booked up. Last year, Curtis & I parked our RV on N Washington St. for the entire festival weekend and didn’t get asked to move. This worked out to be a great spot with easy access to the main (Original) stage. There are a few spots that are level on that street and it’s adjacent to a field where some folks pitched tents last year. Other pickers were parked nearby and we jammed on Saturday night after the shows. The Butte Folk Festival is all free of charge.
We’re hoping to park near the same spot again this year. We’ll look for other MRBAs there.
